Geopolitics

Geopolitics refers to the study and analysis of the effects of geography (human and physical) on international politics and international relations. It examines how geographic space, natural resources, population distributions, and environmental factors influence political power dynamics, state behavior, and global interactions. Geopolitics often encompasses the strategic considerations nations make based on their geographic location, such as access to waterways, borders with other nations, and regional resource availability. The term also highlights how geographical features can create opportunities or constraints for political actions and alliances. Geopolitical analysis is used to understand issues ranging from territorial disputes and alliances to global economic strategies and security concerns.
