Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams, typically consisting of nine players each. It is played on a diamond-shaped field with four bases arranged in a square formation. The objective of the game is for one team to score runs by hitting a pitched ball with a bat and then running around the bases to return to home plate. The opposing team tries to prevent runs by fielding the ball and recording outs, which can occur through various means, such as catching a batted ball in the air, tagging a runner, or throwing the ball to a base before the runner arrives.

Baseball is characterized by its distinct structure, including innings—where each team has the opportunity to bat and field. The game includes numerous rules and strategies, such as pitching, hitting, base running, and fielding. The sport is known for its rich history and is often referred to as “America’s pastime,” though it is played and loved globally.
